While India may have gone under a lockdown in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are several people in the country who are still sceptical about the gravity of the situation and the importance of the quarantine in bringing the pandemic under control. The short film is an enthusiastic attempt to engage with the same indifference and scepticism. Using surrealist images of animals, as well as a notable structuring of the narrative, it reminds the viewer to sit up and pay head to the health advisories.

The story is of a young girl who arrives home at a late hour one night. She has recently shifted to a new building due to construction in her current apartment. After having moved from her home in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, there is an instinctive fear of the dark as a woman in an unknown city. However, that particular night, when she arrives to the darkness of a power cut, she finds a companion to lead her way to her house despite it. At the end of it all, there is perhaps another important lesson of life awaiting her.

Batti (Light) | Short Film Nominee

Any woman who has travelled alone at night would identify with the anxiety and stress of the protagonist. On her way back from the railway station after dropping her friend, a woman is unable to find any cabs. Time is of essence in the situation for she has slipped out of her house without the knowledge of her parents. Desperate to get home, she gets inside a private cab, despite the lateness of the hour. The narrative brings to life the uncertainty and fear for one's safety, building the suspense gradually. However, at the end of it all, along with the comment about women's safety, awaits a very unexpected development at the story's conclusion.

Not Alone | Short Film Nominee

The short film opens on a note which is located in our reality, and it soon develops to lead to some interesting developments. Now that the national lockdown has been extended in the country, a man is concerned about his alcohol stash. He asks a friend to get some from outside. For the same, he offers him a strange object, instantly asking the audience to participate in the story more deeply than they may have so far. The object is revealed to be a pair of sunglasses that allow the wearer to teleport at will to a desired location. Using this fantastical object, the film also offers an educational message to its viewer, allowing its brief narrative to be relevant in contemporary times.

Watch Your Every Step | Short Film Nominee

The idea of the narrative is to explore the question of women’s presence in public spaces, as well as their location in society. The approach remains marked by women from all over the country reciting lines into the camera, each of them questioning how their safety and security have been left at the mercy of a predominantly sexist society which still remains indifferent to their woes. Central to all of these ideas and their articulation is the question - am I safe? 
As the title of the short video is realized within the narratorial progression, its intentions are presented to the viewer in a lucid manner, all along adhering to its core intentions. The weaving of the different visuals exhibits a little inconsistency, however, in its texture and overall flow, perhaps a characteristic that can be smoothened out in the future projects by the team.

Kya Main Surakshit Hoon? | Short Film Nominee

The lived reality that the coronavirus lockdown ushered in was a completely unprecedented experience for all of us. This, in turn, left us unprepared and struggling to adapt. However, it further required us to stick to all of these changes, as confining as these might be, simply for the health and safety of those around us. The short narrative discusses the same concerns, portraying for the viewer all its intentions, while simultaneously tying them together with a complementary voiceover.

Lekin Kush Hu | Short Film Nominee

The film carries an important message for a world that has found itself located within the heart of a pandemic. It reminds the viewer of their role in ensuring not only their own safety, but also of their near and dear ones. The approach adopted to convey the same is an experimental one, but clear in its message. The story opens in the form of a thriller with an evil deed about to be committed. It is only as the narrative unfolds that the viewer begins to understand the true significance of the events before them.

Heed | Short Film Nominee

The pandemic of Coronavirus has been accompanied by a deluge of fake news around it that threatens to easily send anyone into panic. Doing its bit is this ad film which reminds the viewer that there indeed is nothing to be fearful of as long as we are following the safety protocol put in place by the authorities. From regularly washing your hands to always covering your mouth while coughing or sneezing, the film further reminds its audience of simple practices to safeguard your health and of those around you. It is simply a putting together of suggestions by different people for the benefit of the viewer. When weaved in a comprehensive manner, they are intended to be impactful while also being easy to incorporate in your life.

Corona Se Darona | Short Film Nominee

The series attempts to rope in humor, drama, and an educational message as it presents to you a glimpse into our pandemic-stricken reality. It primarily takes us into the misadventures of two couples over a span of three parts, and portrays the said reality vis-a-vis their experiences. 

While Sunil has already been infected by the Covid-19 virus, Nainesh finds himself consumed by the paranoia of contracting it. Their wives, Diya and Sureeli, continue their daily conversations over phone calls, all along dealing with their respective households. The series engages with all of these characters, and at the end of it all, leaves the viewer with an important message about striking a balance between carefulness and keeping irrational fear at bay. The entirety of the plot of the series thus becomes a forward progression towards the same.
