The opening scene is a tight close up of a worried man whose wife has ended up in an accident and broken her leg. The narrative does a good job of drawing in the viewer into his distress, only for an unexpected turn waiting for them as it progresses. The film employs a black and white palette at the beginning and experiments with colour transitions. Additionally, it is endearing and simple - two things that work best for it. Another strength lies in the fact that it does not try to be anything it's not. There is also a wonderful celebration of love for the romantic in all of is that will leave you with warm fuzzies inside.

Drawing inspiration from 'The Maids' by the French playwright Jean Genet, the film is an exploration of two women trying to get rid of their exploitative and seedy boss. As they play out the moment of his death, revelling in their make-belief victory every single day, the film perhaps attempts to invoke the same theatrics as its parent text. However, the narrative does not come through entirely with the atmosphere it aims to conjure, sometimes giving in to a repetition that does not work as a thematic device. Overall, the film exhibits significant potential in terms of storytelling that can be explored further by the team in their future projects.

What happens when a dedicated, hard-working employee finds himself against the wall in his workplace? All he hopes for is getting a week off from work for a holiday in Goa. However, things soon take a heated turn when he finds his senior dissing him over a phone call, immediately after having manipulated him into not asking for leave. What the film potentially aspires to do is convey the frustration and helplessness of an honest employee who finds himself virtually powerless in the face of red-tapism and hierarchy of his workplace. As he prepares to finally hold his senior accountable, will he be able to secure his leave?

Chhuttee | Short Film Nominee

The story takes the viewer into the misadventures of Bratin, a man who finds it difficult to be with the woman he likes from a distance, or perform at his job in his workplace. His rival ends up taking the credit for his idea, as he also successfully woos his love interest, while the protagonist is left by himself to toil for long hours in his office. The narrative moves swiftly from one setting to another, also trying to invoke emotions of isolation and sadness as Bratin is turned into a laughing stock by his colleagues. At the end of his rope, he then turns to astrology, and mysterious potions and tablets provided by a godwoman of sorts called Mata Madonna. Bossikoron endeavours to invoke humour by placing its characters in unlikely and absurd situations. The narrative is marked by a few rough edges which can be more evenly rounded off in future projects by the team. As for Bratin, who is faced with an overbearing mother, rivalry of a competitive colleague, rejection in love, how or will he eventually find the path that leads to his desired life?
