It's the little moments that make up life as well as a good short film. Katran, a glimpse into these seemingly unimportant moments, is the story of an elderly couple which has decided to part ways after three decades of marriage. The chemistry between Piyush Mishra and Alka Amin beautifully captures the conflict and makes it the strongest aspect of the narrative. The protagonists are supported most efficiently by the other characters in the film which make brief, but not any less significant appearances. As the story progresses, it becomes clear to the viewer that separation indeed is the most peaceful and ideal solution for the couple. However is that the path they will also eventually choose to move ahead?

Come on Golu's journey as he attempts to find an escape from school bullies and his parents' bickering. However, sometimes there can be a flip side to these flights of fantasies. Backed by Piyush Mishra’s strong voice, Glue is an exploration of what this can be. It also leaves the viewer with the disturbing message that a destructive force can sometimes crush even the most innocent, wonderful things.

Sangharsh is a narrative set against the hinterland of a dystopian society where an autocratic regime has clamped down on all kinds of disagreement. It offers Piyush Mishra in the role of a dictatorial headmaster trying to figure out who painted protest slogans on school property. While the film attempts to offer a strong conversation between him and his pupil, also the son of protestors who have been missing, it somehow fails to cause a deep impact on the viewer. Despite getting all elements of a good product right on paper, it does not stay with the viewer for too long. The sets and the sentiment look forced. The art direction shows a lack in subtlety.

A man and a woman are located against a bright background, their shadowy silhouettes being the dark outlines that stand out in notable contrast. The figures remain solitary specks in their quiet surroundings as the narrative starts a conversation around life and dreams, hopes and existence, roping in nostalgia, childhood memories, philosophical musing and poetry. 

The camerawork and visuals further support the thought and intent of the film, also becoming its most standout characteristic. The elements are coupled with a background score consistent with all the aesthetic and thematic choices made so far, allowing the final result of 'Kinaara' to come together as a whole. 

The voice and tonality of the team exhibits promise, and should definitely be explored and developed further.

Just ahead of the Independence Day, as we gear up to declare our patriotism, here's a reminder about what patriotism truly means. Don't let it be confined to social media proclamations, hidden patriarchy and disturbing indifference to the cleanliness of the environment. The visuals, set against a poetry recitation by Piyush Mishra, are meant to convey the same. The film emphasises the need to introspect, to first learn to look within, become a better version of yourself, and only then will you be able to be part of a glorious nation.

In The Name Of Liberty | Short Film of the Day

The film pivots itself on a very unique premise - the patenting of all abuses and swear words all over the world. In the true spirit of capitalism, a businessman, played by Piyush Mishra, decides to make money out of one of the most common practices globally - swearing. The film goes back to India's Classical past to prove its point in a humorous manner. It draws attention to the various situations where swearing has become so commonplace that we no longer even realise it's presence. However, what happens when someone begins to demand money for the same? Of course things go topsy-turvy and the nation is hurled in a state of chaos. From monthly budgets to being used as a tool to show off your wealth - swearing finds its place everywhere. During few of its moments, the film runs the danger of being crass, however a speech in defense of patenting swearing by Mishra towards the end, pulls it back together. It is also important to approach the film with the right mindset, to see it as harmless, lighthearted comedy, and perhaps the viewer would then come out satisfied at the end of it all.
