Here's a little throwback to the foetus of Vicky Kaushal in a sweetly funny and endearing commercial from an earlier time in his career. Kaushal, our protagonist, has primarily one concern - that would be revealed only till the end to the patient viewer of this ad film. The film is very frugal in the resources it employs - a fixed physical space, a straight storyline and limited frames. However, where it outdoes itself is with the performance. Kaushal brings the most honest and effervescent rendition of a regular office going professional, trying to light up his work life as well as your screen with his little desires. In the fashion similar to the chocolate he is holding in his hand, this commercial too will leave a sweet aftertaste with you at the end of it all.

The short film is a heartfelt exploration of a fan's admiration for Amitabh Bachchan. The protagonist is no other than a familiar granny-figure who sits by herself, engaging in a household chore. The visuals make a pretty picture of a zesty woman deftly working her fingers through the peas in her lap as she gushes over the senior Bachchan. While the protagonist might modestly downplay her dedication to the actor, there is more than a little warmth to be found in her naming a dozen of his films in a single breath. The ad has an innocent intention which it manages to communicate to the viewer in an endearing manner. It's approach is one which is complete with brevity and effortless humour, further allowing it to be a lighthearted, fun watch.

Grandmother | Short Film of the Day

Directed by Ensia Mirza, this short film scores the highest for the beautiful poetry of the narrative. Aayega Ek Sunday, an ode to Mumbai and its adoration of Bollywood stars, depicts a day in the life of Krishna, a helper at a roadside tea stall. As the short film progresses, the viewer finds him getting ready to go somewhere. He is in a hurry, gets impatient with his mother who ropes him in to run an errand, passes by a film theatre without stopping, and the viewer still doesn't know where he is headed. The narrative takes its time revealing this, and indeed, it's worth the wait. Shot within two days, the film is a special treat for Amitabh Bachchan's fans along with being a wonderfully honest and innocent portrayal of a young boy's admiration for the actor.
