The film is a wonderful take on the various aspects of love - thrill, cheating, stability and boredom - from the point of a view of a housewife in a middle-class, nineties household. The narrative does a notable job of using a mundane object, a pressure cooker, to comment on the dynamics of a marriage. Swati, who feels neglected by her husband, while also struggling with an old pressure cooker, finds herself considering different options and newer alternatives. She soon finds herself tempted by an automatic pressure cooker, a fancier product of an era that was beginning its tryst with modernisation. However, between temptation of novelty and the stability of familiarity, what will she choose?

This is a well-produced film with good performances by all the actors. However, the climax of Listener leaves the viewer a bit under-whelmed. This could perhaps be blamed on the format of a short film where the creator is confined by the duration. Yet there is a distinct need for the crescendo to rise in a different manner. The protagonist of the short film works at a restaurant where people pay him to listen to them talk. Listener, thus, also becomes a comment on the loneliness in society where despite friends, family and a job, people have to pay to get heard. Bottomline? It's a good film with a great concept, but there's an inexplainable sense of something being absent.

The short film is the story of six friends who find themselves in a dark room in a location unknown to the viewer. The narrative progresses to reveal that the friends have arrived to play a game of which they have no knowledge, in return for a sum of ten lakh rupees. There is an attempt to build an eerie atmosphere of mystery and thrill. Things come to a head and loyalties are tested, along with morals and principles, as characters are presented a choice between survival and betrayal. When a gun is found under the table, it immediately becomes a question of who kills whom first. However, amidst the heightened tension, what will be the fate of the unsuspecting group who had turned up simply to make some quick money?
