A sound professional, as is suggested in the title of the film itself, works on a project late into the night. As he experiments and plays with different sounds, he realizes he is not alone in the darkness, and thus begins a game of shadows and stealth where he attempts to keep an intimidating intruder out of his house. 
The screenplay exhibits efficient utilization of existing resources, coupled with an edit that displays investment of thought. Both of these together allow the film a very distinct personality when it comes to visuals, paving the path for more such storytelling in the future. Though the protagonist’s fate might hang in the balance, there is no uncertainty about the earnestness and devotion involved in constructing the film and its narrative.

Foley | Short Film Nominee

It’s late at night, and a tired, overworked editor still plows on with work at his desk. A phone call from a desperate friend, asking for a favor for one of his projects where the concerned editor left him in the lurch, soon changes the course of the night for the protagonist. The current task now starts off with three strange videos, followed by stranger visions, shadows, and silhouettes that begin to completely overpower his reality. 

Are these mere imaginings, or is there a malicious, supernatural force afoot? Is this why the previous editor fell out of the project? And most importantly, does a similar fate await the protagonist as well? The final result raises all of these questions, while also playing with the character’s own internal demons and disturbing ideas. Additionally, it evidences the investment of thought in narrative-building.

Editors Cut | Short Film Nominee

A man is alone in a big house, watching a horror programme on television. Left too shaken by it, he quickly moves to his bedroom to call it a night. Some documents on a table reveal that he is not in a stable mental condition. Soon the protagonist’s own horrifying thoughts begin to come to life, plaguing his reality with nightmarish events. The end result does not offer any cause and effect equations, only a situation that is explored with zeal. The performance and the visual flow is further marked by earnestness.

Nightmare | Short Film Nominee

The film sets a premise for a story that perhaps seems like a harbinger of several secrets that are yet to unfold. Consequently, it manages to conceal more than it reveals through its snatched glimpses of light amid shadows and darkness. The film further employs music to conjure its atmosphere of thrill, threatening to soon take the form of horror as events come to a head in the protagonist's life. Coupled with jump scares, a seemingly restless dog, blood and the suggestion of imminent violence, Chapter One puts its story forth for the viewer. As the night continues to darken, and nightmares continue to plague our protagonist's sleep, will he truly be able to see what lies on the other side of this darkness?

Attempting an engagement with mental health, the short film is a portrayal of the tricks the human mind can play on you. Mental disorders might creep up on someone in a way which makes it difficult to differentiate hallucinations from reality and Sambhram wants to explore the same concern.

The film, a thriller that employs shadows and an attempted eerie background score to drive its audience deeper into its darkness, is the story of a single night. As a girl finds herself unable to sleep during a loudly stormy night, she resorts to calling up a friend for some companionship. However, while she remains alone at home, an unknown visitor finds himself making his way to her garden, to eventually break into her house. The film endeavours to blur the lines between reality and dreams, and make the viewer question their own understanding of the events that have unfolded before them.

The Call | Lockdown Film Challenge

The film opens on a note that does not give any inkling of the direction it is headed in. After being made aware by the title of the film, Daaka or robbery, when we see a man preparing to leave for somewhere, the first question to arise is whether he will be the robber or the robbed? The audience is soon given the answer as a man breaks into a house in the darkness of the night, and thus begins his movement through it, silent as death. Employing shadows and snatches of light, the viewer is taken into the different corners, revealing all the various objects they hold within. However, just when the whole task has been completed, an unexpected development awaits our protagonist.

Daaka | Short Film Nominee

The short film is marked by its absence of dialogues, and in several places, a background score, endeavoring to share its story simply by the visuals unfolding before you. A man is alone at home, his parents' return having been delayed for some reason, when strange occurrences begin to occur around him. He imagines a stranger, a violent intruder in his house, only to eventually find him to be a fragment of his imagination. This eventually gets tied with an addiction to technology or screens that all of us have battled, specifically in the past year, often ignoring so many other potential hobbies or activities we could have explored. However, even after this lesson has been realized, and one might consider it to be the end of the protagonist's troubles, another unexpected and shocking development awaits him, as well as the viewer, at the heart of the film.

The short film is a glimpse into an evening when the protagonist finds himself alone at home. As some time passes and he wakes up from his sleep, he realises someone else is present in the house too. Thus begin a series of suspenseful events. However what course will they come to take?
