On the face of it, the film is simply a young man's struggle to find a lighter in his house. He stumbles across several of them, but none of them manage to conjure a flame. His flatmate, who blares loud Pink Floyd from his room, is of little help, and thus the attempts to light a cigarette continue.
The film exhibits potential in the manner in which it is visually weaved - a black and white, single-shot narrative of an indifferent protagonist floating between rooms. His sweatshirt which reads "Stop Making Sense" is focused several times to ensure that it's clear to the viewer the atmosphere the film is trying to create. The crescendo is reached when he finally goes into the room of his flatmate called David, with his takeaway food in his hand. Both the viewer and the character are introduced to a reality neither is prepared for. However, just when he has managed to light his cigarette and a sense of calm has returned after the series of events, would you find yourself prepared for the phone call he is about to receive?
