Right at the very beginning Jontro (The Machine) asserts that the narrative is inspired by Satyajit Ray's short story 'Telephone', setting a horizon of expectation for the viewer. The rest of it is simply allowing itself to move from one point to another as the film unfolds. Late at night a man receives a phone call.
However, this is not a regular phone call for the speaker on the other end is the most peculiar person, and has even more strange things to say to the protagonist. The plot then develops to bring in ideas of death and time, but also a sense of urgency regarding the decision that would come to determine the character's, a Mr. Gupta, fate.
