The story is of a saleswoman visiting three different houses to convince three potential customers to try her Mamta Tonic. She is giggly, chatty and determined to sell her product. The narrative of the film is skilfully written and achieved with the protagonist moulded in an artful manner. However, a dark twist awaits this seemingly mundane activity of door-to-door retail. The unpredictable plot further accentuates the intelligence of Mamta Tonic, bound to leave the viewer shook in their seat.

Dadi is a story found in every Indian household with the elderly. It's about empathy and allowing them to be children again, instead of simply writing off a behaviour which does not conform to cold adult logic. The short film is crisp and simple and manages to convey its message successfully. The intimacies between the grandmother and the family are shown subtly, also drawing attention to the friction which may exist between an old woman and her son, inevitable for two people who are similar in numerous ways. The latter allows it to be realistic and relatable, portraying a family which has conflict, but resolutions, anger, but kindness and love.

The short film does a good job of convincing you of its predictability, and then an even better one of proving you wrong. It’s the story of one afternoon where a solo trip is being discussed by a mother and daughter duo over a cup of tea. The mother has apprehensions of what it is to begin while the daughter is convinced of what a wonderful experience it is to be by yourself. Not entirely subtle in its messaging, the short film leaves you with a reminder to be kinder to your parents, especially when they forget it themselves.
