Krish is preparing for the medical entrance exam that is due in thirty-six days. Anyone who has been an
aspirant would know the strenuous preparation that such an endeavour demands. Krish studies for more than eighteen
hours a day, yet finds it difficult to pass his mock tests. 
The film depicts his isolation which is in part, self- imposed, but in part also mandated by the extensive
syllabus he has to cover. Cutting himself of all ties, familial and social, the protagonist has become like a
machine that is only programmed to study. 
One night, a friend who has decided to move out of his house after a fight with his parents, knocks
on Krish’s door. This friend, who is reckless and carefree, forcefully takes Krish to a party. Is this friend
the devil in disguise or a saviour who has come to rescue Krish from his misery? 
The film not only makes an important intervention on the pressures that students put on themselves
to succeed in the only (conventional) way that they are taught is available to them, but also stresses the pleasures
of life, that are as much a part of a student’s well-being, and must be enjoyed rightfully.

That Night | Short Film of the Day

The storytelling capabilities exhibited by the film are remarkable beyond a question, truly jarring the viewer, making them sit up and pay attention. At its opening, two characters, a man and a woman sit together, lamenting an imminent separation. The sense of regret and despair is further enforced by discussing the plans they had for their lives, but those that will now never be realised. It is not revealed to you so far why the plans have been foiled, and once the realisation sets in, it takes a moment for the audience to comprehend what truly hit them. The film is marked by a skilled vision, but it misses the mark ever so slightly when it comes to technique and execution (for instance the blinking of an actor who is supposed to be dead, or the involuntary movement of another's limb who is supposed to be dead too). Nevertheless, the film remains very entertaining and shows deep potential, especially in terms of direction and shot choices, as well as in the intelligent ways adopted to portray violence, and balance out the grimness by using humorous banter between the perpetrators of it. The vision is definitely there, the creativity is unmissable, the director-writer deserves full points.

The Separation | Short Film Nominee

The film opens with a boy on his couch, lying and sitting in several positions. He is then playing video
games, or eating chips, all activities that involve sitting on the couch. A viewer would presume that
perhaps, the activities have something to do with the mundane, isolation, loneliness or staying indoors during the pandemic - behaviors associated with the choice or even the lack of it in a usual sense. However, the reality
of his circumstance is something else. It is not about simply any good boy, it is about the good boy.
