The film tells a story of oppression and brutality, but also of resistance, refusal to give up and finally overcoming all obstacles. The manner it adopts to share the same is confined simply to visuals of feet, and notably so. Right from the beginning, when the viewer is introduced to a child's feet, to the subsequent situations that follow - death, cruelty, violence, success and loss once again, completing a full circle, the narrative explores all of this, but never reveals any faces.
While life may be marked by deeply disturbing and traumatic events, the resilience of a woman who has chosen to not succumb to them, and protect her daughter from everything that she went through, becomes the final sentiment that ties the entire plot together, leaving the viewer with a resounding message.
