‘One Bloody Bullet’ presents a zealous endeavor of weaving a story of violence, deceit, murder and survival. A man has found himself between a rock and a hard place after losing a large sum of money in gambling on the results of a sports tournament. Our first introduction to his misery is in the form of his woeful face as the Indian cricket team wins a match. The contrast in the reaction that the viewer is likely to expect from the protagonist offers the film’s first stab at grabbing your attention. 

There is further the attempt to experiment with pacing, narratorial progression and editing to bring the story to life. All of these elements work in their capacity and, even though a few wrinkles remain, on the whole, they allow the plot to convey its intentions.

The film is the story of Sofi and Peter at first glance. However, a closer look soon reveals much more that plagues their relationship. Gambling, alcoholism, addiction and financial troubles are deeply entwined within this equation. As all of these are presented to the viewer, a metaphor is invoked, one established in the title, about the past of this relationship which is in extreme contrast with the present. The narrative is also marked by well-meaning intentions when it comes to its message on addiction and suicide prevention.

Like a true thriller, the film builds a slow suspense. The narrative takes its time to reveal its cards. This
ploy of a game of cards is central to the film’s plot as well. Michael is a rake who has had a dark past. He
has been reckless, careless and brash. He is an alcoholic, a drug addict and a gambler - all traits
associated with an anti-hero, except that he is the hero of the film. The anti-hero is a mysterious man
who challenges Michael to a game of cards one night at a bar that Michael regularly frequents. The turn
of events that unfold as Michael accepts this offer are what comprise the suspense of the film. The
commitment of the crew is discernible.
