Rater Golpo or Story of a Night is essentially about the far-reaching, and often lasting, effects of neglect on a relationship. The narrative takes its time getting to the point where it reveals its core engagements with the same to the viewer.
The entirety of the drama comes to pivot on a single dinner that a couple shares, and it suffices to give you an adequate glimpse into the marriage as a discussion around past infidelity, self-absorption to the extent of completely overlooking your partner's needs and desires, as well as the location of women in a family which only fixates on the happiness of the man in a marriage, are invoked.
The conversation which finally forms the crescendo and the eventual climax of the narrative, perhaps the only conversation which truly matters at this point, is handled well. It further serves as a reminder of how sometimes things are too far gone for even salvaging a relationship. Additionally, there is use of poetry to further assert the message of the plot, concluding the film at the same sombre, thoughtful note on which it had begun.
