As the title suggests, the predominant part of the film comes to revolve around a single violent act, one of a husband slapping his wife while being quarantined during the coronavirus lockdown. On the face of it, the plot might seem to be about domestic violence in couples during these health crisis. However, that is precisely how the narrative hoodwinks the unwitting viewer, and instead offers a far more unexpected conclusion to the story.

Rater Golpo or Story of a Night is essentially about the far-reaching, and often lasting, effects of neglect on a relationship. The narrative takes its time getting to the point where it reveals its core engagements with the same to the viewer. The entirety of the drama comes to pivot on a single dinner that a couple shares, and it suffices to give you an adequate glimpse into the marriage as a discussion around past infidelity, self-absorption to the extent of completely overlooking your partner's needs and desires, as well as the location of women in a family which only fixates on the happiness of the man in a marriage, are invoked. The conversation which finally forms the crescendo and the eventual climax of the narrative, perhaps the only conversation which truly matters at this point, is handled well. It further serves as a reminder of how sometimes things are too far gone for even salvaging a relationship. Additionally, there is use of poetry to further assert the message of the plot, concluding the film at the same sombre, thoughtful note on which it had begun.

Colors, as the title suggests, play a crucial role in the narratorial development of the film. Yellow, blue and red, primary colors with their predominant emotional representations, from anger, passion and love to friendship, new beginnings and a sense of calm, become central to the story. They endeavor to delineate intimacy, conflict and the many ways emotional bonds define equations. 

Essentially, the film is a story of Ayan, Zufi and Sarah, and the many forms of love they share between each other. The final result thus becomes a sincere attempt in portraying it all, while at the same time, dealing with the many nuances and complications of the same. 

With its aesthetic and visual treatment, ‘Blue Lemon’ hopes to acquire a distinct storytelling approach, but does indeed come across exhibiting the yearning for an effortlessness that would have stood it in good stead. Having said that, the film invokes a mellowness that would definitely make itself known to the viewer.
