'Cutting Corners' is a solemn, steady story of innocence, youth and love. It is also a story of despair, jealousy, and perhaps, even hope. All of this is portrayed for the viewer by way of a love triangle.
While a boy endeavors to woo his beloved, Jia, Jai watches quietly from the sidelines as the girl that he loves is pursued by his close friend. Unable to act or express his truth, there is little else that he can do. However, right when the viewer might think his heartache has been neatly tied away, another development awaits them. The storytelling is steady and honest in its attempts, albeit not without a little instability in its visuals, and it’s with this perspective that the project should be approached and appreciated.
