Ek Selfie is a short film about a graceful Bharatanatyam dancer and homemaker, Seema, and her struggle with grief and depression. Dissatisfied and belittled in an abusive marriage, she falls in love with Vinod, a fellow admirer of classical art forms. However, their relationship comes to a hurtful end with Vinod’s departure. <br><br>
Seema slips into depression soon after and is unable to cope even with the help of medication and recommended activities. One night, she dreams of her end and realizes that she needs to move on and try to live happily. The film brings hope to its audience, suggesting they smile in the face of hardships. However, approaching the subject of abuse could have benefited from a more nuanced and coherent method.
