The human mind is an endless abyss of all kinds of antics we may not entirely comprehend. The tip of the iceberg is one such issue called sleep paralysis which the short film explores. The story is of a couple where the man has been distanced and aloof from his concerned wife. As she goes down the path of helping him, with or without his complete knowledge, there is indeed a disturbingly unexpected development of events awaiting her. The audience too participates in her horror and shock, and therein lies the success of the narrative. The film, however, could have benefited from more polished performances. They would have further allowed it to supplement its story with significant contribution.

In a country that is seeing an increase in the sensitivity surrounding discussions on religion, the short film portrays a struggle of two people, gaining all the more relevance in the contemporary context. It speaks of a bond of love and companionship between an interfaith couple who perhaps never even allowed themselves the acceptance of their true emotions for each other. After having always nurtured their closeness in the garb of friendship, it is now time to make an important decision that would alter the course of their friendship in a lasting manner. It is by engaging with this moment that the film also initiates a conversation on society's relationship with love between two people of opposing religious identities.

Tumhari Aur Meri | Short Film Nominee

Menstruation is a perfectly normal, biological process, and yet, there is no end to the stigma and taboo that surround it. The short film does its bit to further the dialogue around the same issue. The scene is of an office during a high-stakes situation when a group of professionals are trying to meet a tough deadline. When in the middle of it, one of the only two women in the group gets her period, an uncomfortable, but important conversation ensues. At the end of it await important lessons and takeaways both for the group as well as the viewer.

Welcome Red | Short Film Nominee

The short film is a story of a couple during the Covid-19 lockdown when they are unable to travel and are forced to live in the same house despite all desires of doing otherwise. Their relationship is further portrayed for the viewer by way of small arguments and disagreements between them. 

 From household chores to the content they watch on television, the two do not see each other eye to eye on any issue. As they look for the positive aspects of the end of their relationship, the film presents its story to the audience - one that wants to assert the idea of new beginnings, rather than a saddening end of something. 

 Hope and positivity therefore become the primary emotions the final result wants to leave the viewer with, reminding them by way of its title that no matter how tough things might seem, there is always a choice regarding the manner in which they can be tackled.
