Two young roommates exchange banter in their kitchen as they prepare lunch. The one washing the utensils under a running tap requests his friend to set him up on a date with a common friend. As the discussion about regular life continues, so do the chores of cooking and washing. Tit-bits of friendly taunts get thrown around and the conversation moves forward until one of the taps starts leaking blood. With this strange, disconcerting development, enters a relevant message that further comes to define the core intentions of the film. As a horrified man stands before a crimson tap, questioning the source of the blood, a very important answer awaits him as well as the viewer at the film's conclusion.

Zara Si Mohabbat uses a dialogue that would stay with the viewer after they are done watching the film. At one juncture in the narrative, a character called Sharad, tells his lover, Manohar, that they are like the fertile soil on which the future generations would bloom. Mapped against a queer relationship which constantly battles societal and familial pressures, the dialogue holds loud and clear. The story too is about Sharad and Manu's battle to gain acceptance in their own respective families. While one of them has kept his sexuality and relationship a secret, the other has recently revealed it, only to be met with a cold silence from their end. The film definitely shows potential in thought and approach. However, it unravels a little in the second half, with a loose scene or two, eventually pulling itself together to present the completed narrative to the viewer. It is a welcome prospect to see more similar engagements by the team.

Roping in attempts at sleekness of style, and humour, the short film wants to tell the story of two characters - an expert pickpocket and a warrior, both vying to be the chosen one as per a prophecy. While they fight it out with each other, the film ties fantasy with comedic moments, the element of the superhero, with ideas of greed and second chances. The project was completed entirely within the time duration of fifty hours, for which it earns extra brownie points. The lack of time also leaves the product with some rough edges. However, on the whole it remains a lighthearted and dedicated endeavour to share a fun narrative with the audience.

The Almighty One | Short Film Nominee

When a man finds himself alone at home following the Covid-19 pandemic, the emotional and physical isolation begins to play tricks on his mind. Along with the stressors of loneliness, there is also financial loss adding to his woes. Soon, reality begins to disintegrate leading to disconcerting developments. The narrative then becomes a discussion about the dark annals of the human mind when it is left to its own devices. As lines between what is real and isn't get blurred, events from the post mingle with the present, leaving the protagonist with an uncertain fate.
