The short film skilfully uses the plot device of a narrative within a narrative to surprise the viewer when they least expect it. Sticking to the genre of thriller, it further catches the viewer unaware with a heightened sense of suspense and anxiety, and the cinematographic transitions are to be thanked for that. While the film is well-written, it falls short of the mark of brilliance, which is also true of its performances as well - good, but not entirely there. Additionally, it does employ the stereotype of a debauched artist, struggling to make a product. It would perhaps be refreshing to see a writer's block with fewer cigarettes and alcohol bottles.

A sound professional, as is suggested in the title of the film itself, works on a project late into the night. As he experiments and plays with different sounds, he realizes he is not alone in the darkness, and thus begins a game of shadows and stealth where he attempts to keep an intimidating intruder out of his house. 
The screenplay exhibits efficient utilization of existing resources, coupled with an edit that displays investment of thought. Both of these together allow the film a very distinct personality when it comes to visuals, paving the path for more such storytelling in the future. Though the protagonist’s fate might hang in the balance, there is no uncertainty about the earnestness and devotion involved in constructing the film and its narrative.

The film opens in a bizarre setting. Three men are atop a hill. One is going to fall off the edge. One wants
to save him. One doesn’t want to get involved. It is the stuff of dreams, the stuff of nightmares. 
Both dreams and nightmares are key to the plot of Mission: HCI. One blurs into the other and ends up in
quite another space altogether, in this strange, unusual film which endeavours to involve and engage the viewer with its narrative. However, what will be the truth that eventually unravels at the end of it all?
