It’s fifteen minutes to 31st October, a Halloween chill perhaps already making itself known, when two employees pull a late night shift at their workplace. 

As the night progresses some strange developments, that begin primarily with phone calls, await them. Each of the three characters that we are interacting with, Ajith, Renuka and Rakesh, gets a deeply disturbing phone call, all suggesting horrifying, supernatural occurrences. The plot continues to develop, and yet there are no overlaps to be found between the three characters, each of whom is now indeed headed towards the same fate. 

The various elements of the film take their time coming into their own, attempting to portray the many horrors that rest within the surface. Though few rough edges in the department of sound persist, the narrative strives to weave and share its story with the viewer.

3 Am Chapter 1 | Short Film Nominee

Several educated youth in the country find it difficult to secure themselves a job despite having a fully-equipped skill-set and other necessary qualifications. The short film is an engagement with the same topic. In the face of the increasing unemployment rates in India, the narrative follows one character on his way to a beach. As he sits by the sea, trying to make a paper plane fly but to little avail, the crashed flight becomes a metaphor for his hopes and dreams. The film attempts a unique voice, but does not entirely achieve it. The saturated colour palette of the visuals also comes across as slightly distracting. The well-intentioned film aims to drive its point home and draw the viewer's attention to the effect of this on the mental health of innumerable people. However, it would have benefitted more with a little technical polishing.
