The scene is of a regular day when a housewife sits at home, watching a cooking show. After she learns the recipe, she decides to put her culinary skills to test, and cooks a seemingly palatable dish for herself. The narrative of Devour continues to develop in the most unexpected manner, catching the unsuspecting viewer completely by surprise with what it has in store for them. The narrative is paced and structured intelligently with equally competent camerawork to supplement and enhance it further. The execution of the story thus becomes a complete success, engaging, shocking and horrifying the viewer in equal measure. However, the film loses brownie points in the department of performances where it could have gained much more from better chemistry and character portrayal.

Nuttah traces the journey of a mother’s grief following the loss of her unborn child. Since the process of
grieving is not linear, neither is the film. The narrative uses dreams, nightmares, illusions and fantasy to explore
the many layers of emotion that the mother undergoes. Her journey from the domestic to the wild is
made sense of through symbolism. As though the exploration couldn’t be fairly dealt with in one
domain, the film moves into the domain of fantasy, dark magic and even flashes of horror, to find a
visual language to best tell the story of a loss that was neither fully whole, nor fully realised.

Colors, as the title suggests, play a crucial role in the narratorial development of the film. Yellow, blue and red, primary colors with their predominant emotional representations, from anger, passion and love to friendship, new beginnings and a sense of calm, become central to the story. They endeavor to delineate intimacy, conflict and the many ways emotional bonds define equations. 

Essentially, the film is a story of Ayan, Zufi and Sarah, and the many forms of love they share between each other. The final result thus becomes a sincere attempt in portraying it all, while at the same time, dealing with the many nuances and complications of the same. 

With its aesthetic and visual treatment, ‘Blue Lemon’ hopes to acquire a distinct storytelling approach, but does indeed come across exhibiting the yearning for an effortlessness that would have stood it in good stead. Having said that, the film invokes a mellowness that would definitely make itself known to the viewer.

The film opens on a note which immediately aims to put an atmosphere of suspense and tension in place. Soon, the viewer is introduced to a man in a dimly-lit room who sits by himself, trying to light a cigarette, but in vain. The narrative, in the meantime, continues to withhold its intentions from the audience. Through its specific approach, the film wants to make a relevant comment about smoking and its adverse repercussions on health. This is further explored by an unusual experience that the protagonist has with himself. However, when he is finally able to make a distinction between dreams and reality, would he also be able to differentiate between what's beneficial for him and what isn't?
