Titled ironically, the film takes us into the life of Sameer, and his many struggles as an aspiring actor. The protagonist has spent years trying to land himself a meaningful, meaty role, and yet, his acting career is far from any kind of stability. 
Other than the problems it causes in his marriage, Sameer also finds himself drowning in despair, frustration and righteous anger at being treated unfairly. However, even in the face of all the hardship, he is unable to let go of his dream, a choice that costs him dearly. The film, though not devoid of its rough edges in the overall production value, is a very dedicated endeavor in bringing all of these emotions to life. A pursuit overpowered by the dilemma of choosing between passion and practicality defines its primary conflict which, in turn, presents a battle all artists would relate to.

If you remove the context of the pandemic, then the film nearly loses its chief significance. At first glance, the
connotation of the phrase, ‘’You are next” is only scary and ominous in the context of the Covid-19 virus
whose unpredictability is its most menacing trait. That it can hit you, even when you feel like you’ve
secured all corners. 
The film simply depicts the fear one feels when you’re alone in the house, and a door suddenly
opens unprovoked. This is a classic horror trope, which is to be appreciated for it never gets old.

You Are Next  | Short Film Nominee

A man enters into a shadowy, dusty house that has clearly been shut for a long time. He seems to be on a phone call, and from the conversation that is thus presented to the viewer, we find out that he is here in the capacity of a real estate agent, trying to strike a deal for the property. It is further revealed that the house also has a dark past that involves the death of its last occupants. Soon a sinister, supernatural presence makes its presence known, but would it be too late by then for the protagonist? 
Future projects could perhaps gain from a tighter control on the lucidity of its visuals. Having said that, House on Sale remains an endeavor in storytelling, which also strives to experiment with its editing.
