A boy lies in bed, his face consumed by shadows. He tries to say something, but only guttural noises escape his throat. As he finally gets on his feet, the attempts to say the same word, a 'thank you', slightly more coherent now for the viewer, continue. The story progresses and he soon heads downstairs to meet a group of people waiting for him.
The night is further revealed to be the protagonist's birthday, and he has indeed only a single, simple wish to make before he blows the candle on the cake. Through a portrayal of these events, the film presents an important comment about the location of someone who is unable to use all his senses like an able-bodied person. It uses little dialogue and resources to communicate the same, but keeps the message lucid and direct throughout.
