The Whirl

By Amol Jain with 6.5

thriller · Short Films · hindi

The narrative, as is clear by the title, inherently suggests a cyclicality of events. It opens with a dimly lit room, marked more by what it conceals as opposed to what is revealed. A man is being held captive by another. The cruelty is clear in the cuss words and the physical violence that is inflicted upon him. However, he is not one to go down without a fight.

Both him and the viewer are allowed a moment of respite in the form of a brief escape. On the other hand, there seems to be no ease in the tension in terms of the atmosphere that has been conjured so far by the film. Just when the viewer is about to begin questioning it, a more jarring and bewildering reality begins to unfold. What will truly be the fate of the protagonist amidst it all?
