The Evening and the Tall Tale

thriller · Short Films · hindi
A very disturbed Shirley has arrived at the doorstep of a mental health expert to seek guidance and help regarding her abusive marriage. Manan was her childhood sweetheart, an integral part of a cherished past that she still holds on to, even in the face of all the abuse. However, now their marriage has taken a horrible turn.
Sharad, her psychologist, comes across as a little too invested in her plight than seems appropriate within the bounds of professionalism. The plot soon develops to reveal the reasons behind it, all the while aiming to not only conjure but also hold on to this tension. The screenplay matches the writing to present the events to the viewer.
The writing does a conscious job of including denial, fear of society and the future, as well as the constant threat of violence, throughout the screenplay. A few rough edges slip through in the end result, but it does not diminish the potential the characters and the story hold if developed further in a single longer, or subsequent shorter projects.
