The film invokes the disturbing reality of contemporary India where violence and sexual assaults against women know no bounds. Through its poetic narrative, the film wants to remind the viewer of the two choices that they are presented with in the wake of it all. However, which path would they finally tread on, the narrative further raises the question.

The two concerns the film ties together offers a unique union of nationalism and love and respect for the environment. It brings to life the constructive message about both of them being intrinsically tied. Consequently, protecting and preserving the environment becomes an expression of love for your country and vice-versa, underlines the story. All of these thoughts and intentions are presented to the viewer by way of a poetic narrative in a first person voice. As a father-son duo strengthen and asses their relationship with nature, the ideas of harmony and love towards your surroundings are allowed an expression on screen.

A Last Visit | Short Film Nominee

The short narrative is a dedicated attempt in making an unequivocal comment about the CAA-NRC debate that shook the country in the recent past. As hundreds of thousands of people took to streets to protest against the demand to prove one's nationality if they belonged to a certain community or religion, ideas of unity, community and what it means to be an Indian became a crucial part of our daily discourse. 

'Khwaab' is an endeavor in furthering the same conversation by showing the dependency of a woman on her Muslim domestic help, one whose identity is in direct line of threat as a result of political and national developments. The final result exhibits potential in storytelling and visuals which further evidence the desire to experiment.

The year 2020 brought with it the most unexpected and unfortunate circumstances. As people struggled to feed their families in the face of food shortages and unemployment, children found themselves confined to their houses, away from school and education. The short film uses a poetic narrative to discuss the same issues. At its conclusion also lies the message it wants to give to the viewer regarding the way children view the world, also lucidly sharing the film's intentions with the audience.

Kahur | 2020 Film Challenge

The short film wants to invoke a sense of community that many of us might have found within each other while being isolated and quarantined without our loved ones. It wants to drive home the idea of unity as India as a nation battles the novel coronavirus together.
