Aptly titled, Two Nations in a Lockdown, the film shows the stark contrast in the realities of the poor
and the privileged. The contradictions between the lives of people who thrive on the extreme ends of
the economic spectrum have always existed, but the aftermath of the nationwide pandemic imposed as
an outcome of the Covid-19 pandemic, has exposed huge gaps in our social circumstances. 
In the film, a couple is enjoying a rich meal, comfortably lounging in their house while, at the same time,
on the news, the exodus of the poor, migrant workers is being reported.

Paying homage and celebrating the real-life bravery of fifteen-year-old Jyoti Kumari who cycled from one state to another with her wounded father in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown, the short film does its bit to enrich the conversation on the indomitable human spirit. While the global health crisis may have resulted in a disturbing reality that has rendered even the strongest powerless, the insurmountable human will and perseverance have also emerged alongside it. With the protagonist's performance as its most notable strength, the short film puts forth a narrative that aims to engage with all of these concerns and aspects of contemporary reality, leaving the viewer with the motivation to never give up.

The story of the film offers a moving portrayal of the plight and misery of migrant workers amidst the national lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Using the experiences of one worker, the narrative presents a comment on a world of financial and social inequality, as well as the casual apathy of the privileged.

Onde Bayake | Lockdown Film Challenge

Borrowing from a real life incident, the short film aims to uphold a beacon of hope as the country battles the coronavirus pandemic. It portrays an act of gratitude on the part of migrant workers in a village in Rajasthan. Amidst the crisis, when the workers were provided shelter in a school, they painted its walls in return for the food and accommodation given to them by the villagers. The film is sincere and honest in its intentions and wants to leave the viewer with a positive message regarding their approach to the nation as well as the world that wages a tough resistance against the novel Covid-19 virus.
