This is a short documentary about Sifu Alexander Fernandes' martial arts journey and the birth of the
Life Institute of Tai-Chi and Martial Arts (LITMA). 
It begins by tracing back to Fernandes’ first inspiration: The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.
The film, a fictionalised account of San Te's experiences, a legendary Shaolin Martial Arts disciple who trained under general Chi Shan, is considered to be one of the greatest films on Martial Arts and was a turning
point for the actors as well the filmmaker. Fernandes was so moved after watching the film that he
decided to go to Beijing and learn the art form himself. 
In the film, marked by its smooth visuals and skilled editing, we get to see the institute that Fernandes built to further this particular form of knowledge, and give back the gift he feels
blessed to have received. The students who have been trained by him consider themselves equally fortunate for the opportunity.

By its own admission, the film is a part of a longer narrative which is yet to be concluded. However, through just this bit of the story itself, Rage manages to put forth its primary concern - the idea of embracing your fears. Using a plot that supports the same premise, the film reminds the viewer that a true winner is someone who has managed to confront headlong the things that scare them the most. Whether or not they are victorious in a battle is then inconsequential, for they have already taken the first step towards an eventual victory in the war that is their life. The film shares its story by weaving together visuals of a martial artist and a boxer, and the way they prepare for a face-off against one another. There is also a poster about a fitness centre in the background of the fight that keeps making an appearance, proving distracting for the story. Overall, the film exhibits dedication to its story and well-meaning intentions about overcoming obstacles and preparing yourself to face your worst enemies.

Rage | Short Film Nominee

The short film is well-intentioned at its core and wants to communicate the message about overcoming internal monsters. From ego and stress to those they give rise to in the form of fear, doubts and sometimes even failure - the narrative engages with them all. The manner it adopts to convey its message is to use the metaphor of internal stressors as literal, physical characters. The protagonist's thoughts find an echo in the group of men who chase him until exhaustion. However, would he find it in him to finally turn around and fight them off or would he forever cower from truly living his life?
