The music video can be seen as a metaphor for the refusal to let go. As a girl tries to hold on to a balloon, she keeps losing it by accident, one balloon after another. However, once she manages to put together a whole bunch of them, she realises the futility of it all, and out comes a sharp pin. The video is beautifully shot with lovely cinematography and dreamy art direction. The colour palette for the visuals is made of baby pinks and powder blue, the pastels further enhancing the intrinsically soothing nature of the vocals and the music.

The film weaves a lovely story about storytelling itself, while also offering a subtle comment on society. All the while foregrounding itself against the innocence of childhood, and the honest, sincere questions that it can raise, the plot comes into its own. It takes us to a village where a teacher is deeply fond of sharing stories with his pupils. Consequently, enraptured in his stories, they often neglect the clock even when it is time to go home. However, one day, a few questions catch our protagonist off-guard, leaving him at a loss of not only an answer that would satisfy the eager faces before him, but also struggling to tell any more stories. Finding his way to a library in a nearby town, he instead stumbles across the most unexpected series of events, roping in an attempted theft and the most unlikely person who is responsible for it. In the process, it is not the library, but life itself which leads our endearing, well-meaning protagonist to the perfect story to share with his students. The film is a devoted attempt to present its intentions to the viewer, but it could have gained from some fine-tuning in its sound and dubbing department. On the whole, it remains an entertaining, well-intentioned final product, ensuring that the viewer is involved with the protagonist and his experiences till the very end.

Backed by poetry, the short film boasts of a narrative about the life of a potter. He nurtures a pot like a parent, raising and protecting it like a child until it's ready to step out in the real world. Much like the nervousness and anticipation of a parent all set to let the child venture forth, the potter too has to overcome his doubts and uncertainties and replace them with hope. Potter manages to draw this parallel successfully and leaves the viewer with a glimpse into the life of a creator. He starts everything from scratch, invests his heart and soul and when the time is right, steps back to say a goodbye and then move ahead with grace.

The film's primary goal is to talk about perspectives, especially when it comes to ideas of creativity, inspiration and the final piece by an artist. It portrays the struggles of different characters and how an idea rejected by one can trigger another to reach a place of great creative achievement, without the first being even remotely aware of his contribution in the same. The manner in which this is shared is revealed gradually to the viewer, as the story comes into its own before unfolding on screen.

Serendipity | 2020 Film Challenge

A man sits at his desk, trying to type something out. The visuals soon reveal topics that he has attempted to engage with, only to fail, as a result of a writer's block. A deadline is looming closer, and yet, the page on screen remains blank. The film gives a glimpse of all these of dead ends he is grappling with as he tries, but in vain, to come up with a new topic to explore. In his desire to come up with a new perspective, marked by positivity in a world that seems to be overwhelmed with bleakness, the protagonist continues to struggle. The film also briefly uses Amelie's theme to set the mood. However, when it's all said and done, will he be able to find the right words?
