Long Distance delves into the tumultuous relationships modern day youngsters share with their parents, often defined by their conflicting opinions and beliefs. Ayushi, an Indian working in Australia, has to deal with a nagging mother who wants her to settle down with a suitable boy from the same caste. Despite having explicitly conveyed her negative feelings on marriage, the mother keeps looking for chances to bring up the topic, which leaves the protagonist in visible distress. 

The short film portrays how sometimes even the most well-meaning family members can leave their loved ones overwhelmed and under immense emotional burden. The misguided attempt to control the child's life, a direct product of the patriarchal, heteronormative society we inhabit, ultimately creates a disconnect or barrier between the two parties, underlines the film.

Long Distance | Short Film of the Month

A young duo of interior designers are invited over by an older couple for planning the re-decoration of their home. 
The older couple offers common Indian courtesy with coffee and coconut biscuits upon their arrival. The conversation between them sails smoothly as they inquire the visitors about family background, profession, mode of transportation and so on. However, as they settle down to talk business, things start getting heated up. The interior designers feel misled as the older couple had failed to reveal the many cracks and defaults that the house has, whereas, the owners believe that they shouldn't change their charges after making a commitment. 
Amongst the quarrel, issues regarding discrimination such as unfair pay of the lower working group, and offering stale food to domestic help come into play. Using a discussion of all of these concerns, the movie aims to emphasize the larger roles and responsibilities of each and every member of society.

Exhausted by a burdening workload, unfair pay cuts and mismanagement of remote work since Covid-19, Vasu quits his job to pursue his long-lost passion for music. This leads to an argument with his father who reprimands his impulsiveness, and stresses on the fact that times have been difficult since the pandemic. 
 
The film showcases the lack of understanding between two far apart generations. 
Vasu's father finds it difficult to grasp his son's need to leave a well-paying job where he might be drowning in despair. On the other hand, Vasu is incapable of understanding his father's values of security and stability. It is at this chasm that the narrative of the film comes into being, engaging with two contrasting opinions, and eventually allowing a flying kite to be a symbol of freedom and autonomy.

A Close Call | Lockdown Film Challenge

Two strangers, travelling in a company carpool, share an interesting, comforting conversation about relationships and their respective approaches to life. While one of them is a budding web designer, the other is a middle-aged finance professional. Consequently, owing to the vast difference in their professional lives and age groups, they have contrasting views when it comes to work as well as personal relationships.The latter believes in complete separation of office and family time whereas the former insists that increasing competition and demand has blurred these boundaries. 
Despite having conflicting opinions, they listen to one another’s views, and eventually find a common ground for some aspects of their discussion. As their destination arrives, they develop a mutual understanding and friendship which possess the potential of leading to lasting, positive effects on the subsequent events waiting to develop within the narrative.

The short narrative is lighthearted and sweet as it brings to life a conversation between an aunt and her niece. The latter has recently finished college, and the former, like most adults, is concerned about the subsequent developments in her life - what will be her career choice? What kind of a wife will she make when she gets married? The entirety of the plot remains marked by the same humorous approach it had begun with, presenting to the viewer an exchange between two women, specifically marked by their generation gap and their own individual approach to technology and life.
