The opening scene itself of Onama establishes an unease in the viewer as we are taken into a troubled relationship of a couple. While the boy suspects his partner of infidelity, the girl seems to have drifted away from him. As he investigates this more, he is faced with an unsettling truth. Things continue to escalate in their intensity as his exam results also do not go as planned. Lonely and despondent, he finds old recordings in his house that enable him to approach life with a new perspective.

From a haircut to a change of wardrobe, significant changes are in order. However, would they truly lead him to being a new person who would go ahead to secure a whole set of different experiences? The film endeavours to answer the same question. It ropes in a song to echo its sentiment louder, while also emphasises the message about being able to fall in love with yourself first before braving to do the same with someone else.

Further, the narrative completes itself with a sense of college nostalgia and budding relationships that might remind viewers of their own experiences of a similar design.
