Niruktha is a story about two researchers, Niruktha and Chhaya, who are writing a challenging case -
a study against a powerful medicine corporation, while being chased by goons hired by the same company.
In her personal life, Niruktha rejects the advances of a friend (Vishak) because she is in love with
another. Vishakh can’t take it well, and harbours a tendency to harm her. In the middle of these threats
from her personal and professional life, she is also diagnosed with a mental disorder which makes
her hallucinate that someone is attacking her. According to the doctor, it is Niruktha’s own reflection
that triggers these delusions – an aspect that was clever and worth exploring, but isn’t in the film. <br><br> The narrative ropes in several emotions in an attempt to offer an engaging plot. However, the series of events and the manner they come to unfold in raise a significant question - is it fair to a call a film a thriller when the dominant mode throughout is melodrama?
