A child comes pestering his grandfather for a story. Failing to secure himself some peace and quiet, the grandfather gives in and begins the story of two characters - Mallan and Madhevan, enhancing the film with a metanarrative. Two robbers, while on the run from the police, take refuge in a forest. However, soon avarice and malice enter their equation, turning them against one another. While they may have encountered an unexpected door to a strange land, now their existence rests precariously on the decisions they will make going forward.

What the film does is invoke an interesting reality without spoon-feeding the viewer regarding its message. Its intentions are to be figured out by them using their own devices, now that they have been presented with them in an engaging manner.
