The short film is a beautiful exploration of separation, longing and eventual union. The narrative uses muted colours and soft visuals that set the pace as well as the tone of the story. It follows a back and forth trajectory to convey its message which further enhances the plot, and leaves the viewer with farm fuzzies at the end of it all.
The camerawork is primarily handheld. This in turn serves to keep the mood casual, yet intimate. As it gives a glimpse into the life of a couple which happens to be in different cities and far apart from each other, the film will strike a chord for all those who have known yearning and cherished the company of a loved one. Attempting to seek and secure their presence through different means, virtually in the instance of the film, is an experience shared by several people who have been in love. It would be for these viewers that Khayaal Tumhaara will ring the loudest and truest, and therefore, in turn, be relatable.
