Living in an orthodox society which looks down on pre-marital sex and teen pregnancy, Ananya and Pranav find themselves in a fix when their home-experiment for a pregnancy test results in a positive. Ananya’s mother soon arrives to find her in dire emotional straits, and after some probing, she finally reveals the truth.
As the two women undergo an intense experience, one that is especially and unnecessarily burdensome for women in a patriarchal society, shaming and rejecting them for an unplanned pregnancy, the story comes into existence. Whether the narrative itself subscribes to the moral policing of female bodies or condemns it, remains unclear. However, at the same time, Ananya finds herself reaching a new space of warmth and understanding with her mother at the end of it all.
