The film begins with a man sitting by himself, observing a couple at a ghat. He seems to be mulling over something - perhaps his own loneliness? The scene continues to develop taking us to two other lovers, Manish and Preeti. Extremely fond of each other, they are now ready to take the next step and involve their families to start a conversation around marriage.
Consequently, Manish brings up the topic with his strict father, but is instead met with something unexpected. Because of being unaware of his son's relationship, the father has already fixed a meeting with a prospective girl, Chhaya. Once the circumstance is made clear, Manish agrees to meet Chhaya in return for a meeting between his father and his beloved Preeti.
At the predecided meeting, Chhaya and Manish have an honest and easy conversation, and decide to go down their own separate paths. The film, thus, becomes an exploration of the many ways the lives of all of these characters collide and overlap with one another.
