Diabetic Tablet

By Nayan Saraf with 6.8

drama · Short Films · hindi

Two men share a meal, while a cold silence predominates the table. The father and son eat their food in silence. The little conversation that develops between them only serves to accentuate the aloofness that exists. The familial scene thus comes to be marked by distance and lack of intimacy. In addition to this, the protagonist finds himself drowning under professional stress and tribulations that only worsen his equation with his family.

Once the world of the film has been established for you, its core drama comes to pivot on a single object - a medicine, a tablet that Nayan is supposed to get for his father. As a result of miscommunication, or rather, the lack of communication, situations spiral out of control, leading to important realizations on the part of the protagonist.

While the film could have gained from a tighter control on its sound, the narrative does a notable job of reaching this juncture, while also offering a convincing portrayal of a regular household. The many undercurrents that would constitute such a circumstance are also allowed delineation, enriching the story further, and allowing the film to be a wholesome, balanced final result.
