The scene is of a birthday party, but a woman and a child sit in a mood that is far from festive. The hour is late, the house quiet, and the wait, seemingly endless. When a man enters the setting, the direction of the narrative is made clear to the viewer. 'Piggy Bank' is the story of a neglected family where the man is too preoccupied with making money. While spending long hours on phone calls and before his laptop screen, he has forgotten the value of the time spent with his wife and young son. The story offers a comment on this loss in his world of profits by portraying how the man is made to realize his folly in the most innocent way.

The narrative does a notable job of sustaining an elemental suspense at every step. The story is of a single night when a woman is trying to get home to her daughter. The lateness of the hour ensures that her fear for her safety remains all-pervasive. In the process, the film thus brings to life the reality of any average woman who constantly looks over her shoulder to see whether or not she is being followed. However, our protagonist has learnt to not cower down, and instead fight back even in the face of overpowering fear, and it is perhaps the same values that would be passed on to her daughter. Additionally, there is a suggestion of help being available in the form of concerned men as well in a world which is rife with crooks and ruffians of all kinds. Tying all of these components together as a complete whole allows the film to present itself to you in the form of the final product.

The film follows a young, in love couple who meet up discreetly for their dates and outings. One fine night, they are able to convince the girlfriend's parent for a night out under the deceit of her staying over at a friend's place. Their special, happy night is brought chaos by brutal and terrifying goons who abduct them and take them to a secluded construction site where the abductors try to take advantage of the situation. The male protagonist, lying hurt on the ground, trails off to his past, difficult memories, moments in which he had lost all hope. He narrates his dreadful experience in school when he was bullied by fellow classmates or the time he was almost hit by a truck or when his mother was struggling to survive on the hospital bed. He reveals that even after such adverse circumstances, he never lost faith in the higher, superior authority, the one he looked out for and was supported by when all is lost. This, in turn, eventually allows the realization of the title in the plot of the film as well.
