The story of the film relies on memory, reminisce and an idea of the past its two characters have seemingly left behind. However, more than anything, the overarching emotion that comes to dominate the narrative is one of regret of things that were never said out loud, and thus were forever left hidden as a secret that soon became to heavy to burden.

The short film deals with romance, relationships and fidelity. The film opens with a shot of a man, clearly dishevelled and deeply upset about something. The story unfolds to reveal the cause of his distress - his inability to get through to a woman's phone, clearly a lover or wife. She is soon revealed to be the latter as his absolute fixation with her, a twisted form of love, takes a murkier turn. <br><br> Determined to kill both her and himself, he spends the night drinking and in the morning offers to take her on a long drive. It is finally during this car journey that the most revealing developments about their relationship will come to take place.

The Laws Of Maya | Short Film Nominee

The film solely employs shadows and silhouettes to convey its message. The story is essentially about the fight between light and darkness, a metaphorical one which is represented for the viewer visually as well. The plot further has the overarching message of light eventually finding its way no matter how impenetrable the darkness might seem.
