At the heart of 'Shunyta' is a terrible development that has left two very loving and devoted parents distraught. It is a regular day when they realize that their child is in deep discomfort and would not stop crying. An exploration of the reasons behind it leads them to a terrible discovery regarding his health. 

It turns out that a heart transplant is crucial for the survival of the child. The development is accompanied with its many financial and logistical demands, leaving the worried parents overcoming all kinds of obstacles to procure a huge amount of money for the treatment, as well as an organ donor who can provide them with the heart. 


The exploration of all of these elements leads to an emotional story, marked by a pertinent message at the end of it all. There is also something to be said about tragedy and the manner in which it pushes forth the plot throughout. It makes important points, along with leaving the viewer with a devoted attempt at engaging with the nature of pain, the instinctive desire to protect a loved one and the many ways the ensuing battles can change someone.

The year 2020 ensured an end, even though temporary, to several forms of performing arts. As theatres were shut down, this most unfortunate development brought with it despair and a sense of despondency that entrenched its roots deep within the heart of those who lived for the stage and all that it carried within itself. The short film employs poetry to portray one such experience. The visuals are marked by the emptiness of a theatre which now lies silent and lifeless, unsure of the path ahead. The voiceover is expert and skilled, and thereby enriches the narrative further, allowing it to communicate its message in a lucid, impactful manner.
