The narrative of the film is calm and nuanced, and serves to highlight the fact that it's the simplest of stories that are the most engaging sometimes. The film opens in the middle of a road where a lonely bus stop is soon located for the viewer's benefit. They are kept guessing about the thematic concerns of the plot until they finally arrive unannounced in a quiet manner. By the time they finally realise the internal tension of the story, the audience is too deeply involved in the struggle of the protagonist to wage a tough battle against his loved ones in pursuit of his dreams. The film is no more than a moment in his life, but one which is sufficient to convey a noteworthy story to its audience.

Broken Strings | Short Film Nominee

The film begins with a man sitting by himself, observing a couple at a ghat. He seems to be mulling over something - perhaps his own loneliness? The scene continues to develop taking us to two other lovers, Manish and Preeti. Extremely fond of each other, they are now ready to take the next step and involve their families to start a conversation around marriage. 

Consequently, Manish brings up the topic with his strict father, but is instead met with something unexpected. Because of being unaware of his son's relationship, the father has already fixed a meeting with a prospective girl, Chhaya. Once the circumstance is made clear, Manish agrees to meet Chhaya in return for a meeting between his father and his beloved Preeti. 

At the predecided meeting, Chhaya and Manish have an honest and easy conversation, and decide to go down their own separate paths. The film, thus, becomes an exploration of the many ways the lives of all of these characters collide and overlap with one another. There is heartbreak and betrayal, along with a positive message at its core that ties it all together and allows the film to conclude in a decisive manner.

Dobaara | Short Film Nominee

A loving couple is introduced to us right at the film’s onset. While the wife beckons her husband to bed, he has a battle to overcome before he follows her call - readying a script for work the following day. In the struggle, another similar story is conjured of another couple where the man, once again, grapples with turning in a long-due script. 

The story-within-a-story approach of the film continues to portray elements of thrill, as well as violence. When the narrative concludes, one that the protagonist had been weaving, we are presented with a moment of intimacy, but only a fleeting one as it is soon subverted most shockingly. All of these components aim to enhance the storytelling, the most notable aspect of the film. 

The driving force of the film eventually becomes the echoing of the idea of how overlaps exist within the bubble of our existence. The faces we see in our day-to-day lives might have a bigger role to play than we realize at first glance as they bleed into our fantasies and the things we concoct inside our heads. Though there is a little inconsistency in the visual and sound departments, the end result remains lucid in the communication of all this, while also presenting a set of zealous performances.
