At the heart of this innocent love story is Arjun, and primarily his object of affection, also the most desired girl in their social circle, Tanya. As Arjun attempts to try his luck with her, the narrative preoccupies itself more with his interactions with his best friend Lucky, than it does with Tanya. Through these deliberate choices of writing and screenplay, the viewer is introduced to another layer within the story, Lucky’s unspoken love for Arjun. 

While the film deals with unrequited love, it also presents a glimpse into the intimacy that is nestled within a meaningful friendship. The hits and misses continue as Arjun hatches the perfect scheme to make Tanya fall in love with him, alongside a reticent Lucky who watches from the sidelines. Notwithstanding a little rawness in terms of production, the film exhibits a devoted troupe of performers as well as the artists behind the camera to portray the various components for the audience. The potential of the team paves the path for more such endeavors in the future.

The concise narrative of ‘Mulaqat’ portrays a single exchange between two characters. A boy has run into a former school-mate of his. However, despite his best efforts, she is unable to recall him. Soon, an undercurrent of innocent attraction is established between the two as they continue with a stroll on the beach. The writing, storytelling and performances, all show dedication, and the desire to bring their intentions to life with sincerity. Despite a few rough edges in terms of production, the end result exhibits potential and should definitely serve as a stepping stone for more creative pursuits that are yet to come.
