It is late into the night when a sudden doorbell shocks Jeet, a mental health professional, out of his pre-bedtime calm. At his doorstep stands a very hassled Arjun, one of his patients, who has unexpectedly arrived at the house claiming to be suffering from side effects of a prescribed medication. 
Hesitant at first, Jeet lets him in, and a conversation follows. In the course of the subsequent narrative, the film exhibits deep potential, as well as sincerity in weaving a plot and story. The writing and development of the same show the dedication of its cast and crew to bring it to life. 
There is further the endeavor to experiment and stylize its edit and camerawork, albeit within the limited means within which the final result functions. It is in terms of the overall production quality, especially pertaining to sound, where some wrinkles remain to be ironed out. Nevertheless, the film in its current form leaves the door open for similar storytelling endeavors yet to come.

After engaging in active combat, when Atharv returns home, nothing is the same again. Horrors of the war zone continue to plague his nightmares and waking reality. 

The support of a loving wife, Kanika, a sensitive artist herself, is not enough as he battles the many symptoms and consequences of PTSD. The narrative presents a sensitive treatment of the subject, ensuring its conversation remains meaningful throughout. 

 


Despite the overall visual progression losing some of its smoothness as the film moves forth, the end result offers an important story and employs competent writing and performances in its execution. While Atharv may have lost more than he is able to accept as a result of his time in service, will his own life, and its value, especially for Kanika, eventually enable him to lead himself back to recovery and healing? Will there be color again on this blank canvas?

Domestic abuse remains one of the harshest realities of our patriarchal society. However, what is even more disturbing than this truth itself is the silence around this form of assault - be it verbal, physical or sexual. And to make matters worse, women who are meted out this violent treatment are coerced and forced into keeping the abuse a secret often by their own family members and loved ones, leaving them even more isolated. The short film is a discussion around the same issues which it offers by taking us into an ordinary morning in a married woman's life. As soon as wakes up, the bruises on her face make the reality of the previous night evident for the viewer. From hiding the discolouration on her face, to forcing herself to smile when she looks at her reflection, the film makes a notable case for driving its point home, further complemented by the performance of its only actor. The visuals, however, stand to gain from a little stability.

Chuppi | Short Film Nominee

Trishna is a short film about a young writer, Aisha who, on her visit to a deserted archaeological site, ends up finding much more than an untold story. Wandering about the ruins, the protagonist comes across an unlikely companion - a woman named Trishna who stands still in her traditional attire, observing the former quietly. A friendship strikes between the two as they talk about their life and experiences. 
Both of them tour the site together and Trishna, being a local, shares the many stories about its history and significance. However, within the narrative rests an uncanny truth about her, waiting to be eventually revealed to a shocked Aisha.

The story of the film is of a group of friends with all of them looking for an object they cannot seem to locate in their house. Put together sincerely, along with being well-intentioned, it draws attention to the state of crisis of contemporary times, while also endeavouring to motivate the viewer to not lose hope despite the unusual circumstances of a lockdown.

Duniya in 2020 | Short Film Nominee

Since the film is called so, you are expecting an accident to happen from the go. The protagonist is
performing careless, devil-may-care, and rather juvenile moves like flaying his limbs, swinging from
the pole in a Mumbai local and skipping his steps, leading the viewer to anticipate a crash and fall any moment. However just before the viewer might find themselves getting tired of the antics, the film takes a different turn quite swiftly.
