The story of Maa, as the title suggests, is about a man's deep love for his mother, and the paths it takes him on. <br><br> A daily laborer struggles to make enough money for his mother's medicines and to keep enough food on the table. The plot thus becomes about the many tribulations and obstacles that poverty sets in his way and the manner in which he attempts to overcome them.

Host of a regular late night talk show, John Cunningham, finds himself in a fix when his uninvited guest refuses to reveal his true identity. The short narrative strives to use flashbacks to introduce a new character who, in spite of being a grown man, is found celebrating his ninth birthday. <br><br> As the story progresses, the audience is informed of a dark and traumatic past of one of the key characters, which haunts him till date with hallucinations and nightmares.
