A little girl is at the top her class in terms of academic performance, and yet, her scholarship lies in jeopardy. The scholarship, incorrectly called ‘colorship’ by her innocently unwitting parents, thereby also pronouncing the film’s title, is subject to an income certificate being submitted to the school by a specified deadline.
The corruption of those in positions of authority, and the pain of unfulfilled dreams and passion, as well as their consequences on the finances of a family, all become important preoccupations of the narrative.
In addition to this, the plot also shares a story of childhood, and a girl’s understanding of a world where the adults around her are the only windows to it, all along tied with music, song, and devotion to bringing the narrative to life.
