Chhoti Si Baat

The short film offers an engaging narrative and a notable performance by Amrita Pal as the lead. It also attempts a nuanced portrayal of its characters, steering clear of sentimentalism. The story is of a housewife, dedicated to her husband who had had to put up a fight with her family to get married to him in the first place.

They got married eventually and are seemingly deeply in love. Despite it all, there are nagging doubts that are forced upon the young wife from different corners until they lead her to take a drastic step. While the fate of the two characters remains uncertain, the film would have benefited from a closer attention to technical detail, and definitely not using a soundtrack as iconic as the theme of Requiem for a Dream.
