The film is a sweet story about a single afternoon when three characters come together under most unlikely and unusual circumstances. After Vasanth’s grandmother has to leave for an important task, and he is locked outside his house, along with Anu, the two end up waiting at the house of their neighbor, Karthikeyan. <br><br>

Soon a scene of awkwardness, discomfort for the adults, and fun and naughtiness for Vasanth, follows. As the story unfolds, however, there is the attempt to make a comment about the importance of community as well as finding moments of belongingness in a society and world where most times one might feel themselves to be a misfit or an outsider. It is in the process of presenting all of these ideas that the film comes together as a whole in a sincere manner.

The film is the delineation of a bond between a mother and her son. Taking us into Surya’s life and showing the viewer his past and present at the same time, it draws viewer’s attention to the love of his mother, as well as the sacrifices she made for him while he was growing up. <br><br> Rendu Idly wants to tap into the domestic space and familial emotions to strike a chord with the viewer. It does so by showing Surya as a grown-up professional at a point in his life when he has just earned his first salary. Now that the occasion has arrived, it is perhaps time for a little celebration with his mother. However, will it truly be in the manner the viewer has been made to expect?
