The film aims an interaction with addiction to technology, a concern especially relevant in contemporary times where we become more and more inseparable with our smartphones every day. It achieves the same by taking the viewer into the life of a character who finds himself spending all his waking hours playing a violent game on his phone. However, soon the images begin to spill over into his day-to-day life as well, making regular experiences like sleeping an insurmountable task. Using a non-linear narrative, this is contrasted against the significance of outdoors, the same ones which had earlier been overlooked and ignored by the protagonist. As he attempts to find the lost calm of his life, will he succeed in attaining it?

Complexion makes an off-the-road intervention into the fairness cream debate by showcasing the
perspective of a dark-skinned man. The film opens with an array of fairness products lined up on a shelf,
but they belong to a young man, Rahul. Rahul lives alone. He wakes up in the morning, drives his bike to
work, gets done with his office work and comes back straight home. Everything seems pretty much
normal, routine, except that he applies a fairness mask each night before bed. Imagine the kind of deep-seated insecurities that Rahul carries every day simply due to social prejudice against a dark complexion. 
His insecurities, alienation and loneliness flash through his eyes as he is ignored by his colleagues at
work, especially the women who treat him as though he doesn’t exist. The only person who greets him
at his workplace is his office-boy who serves him tea and is also dark-skinned. 
Days go by the same, but one day, some thing changes - does it mean that Rahul can perhaps finally achieve acceptance?

As the coronavirus clutched the world in its grasp, it ensured our reality was altered in a lasting manner. In the face of physical distance from your loved ones and the consequent emotional isolation, it is easy to spiral into despair, shows the narrative through the lived reality of the protagonist. However, when he was left without any comfort or solace, where did he eventually find companionship during these bleak times? The story has a sweet answer to the same question.
