The film is the story of Sofi and Peter at first glance. However, a closer look soon reveals much more that plagues their relationship. Gambling, alcoholism, addiction and financial troubles are deeply entwined within this equation. <br><br> As all of these are presented to the viewer, a metaphor is invoked, one established in the title, about the past of this relationship which is in extreme contrast with the present. The narrative is also marked by well-meaning intentions when it comes to its message on addiction and suicide prevention.

A man, Savio, is completely at the end of his rope. It is Valentine’s Day, and love is the last thing on his mind. However, he still ends up meeting his former lover, Sheryl that night. The meeting place is one which played a crucial role in their relationship. It is where their relationship began, as well as met its very ugly and painful end. <br><br> After a long time apart, and immense heartache, Savio has realised his folly and is now willing to rebuild all bridges, as long as Sheryl would give him a chance. With the portrayal of this situation, the film shares a desire to explore the many complexities of life and love, and how deeply embedded they are within each other. The storytelling is honest, and eventually concludes with a development which is aimed at catching the viewer unaware regarding the fate of the lovers.
