An Open Letter To...

By Vaibhav Mishra with 6.8

romance · Short Films · hindi

The film opens with a circumstance where a man sits before a neatly laid out table of snacks, talking to a beloved who is not revealed till the very end. It is in the moment of revelation of this identity that the core message of the film is realized. The man continues to express his love using poetry, even if marked by hesitation and self-aware bashfulness. He remains endearing and sincere in the performance he brings to life.

A piano melody plays throughout this expression of affection as he continues to speak of the fear of a judgemental society. However, at the end of it all, awaits a pure, unequivocal declaration of affection, delivered with utmost devotion. The film straddles both seriousness and frivolity, and perhaps could explore the latter more than the former in future endeavors of similar storytelling.
